The project spread over 2 acres near Jawaharnagar in Mango received green signal at the stakeholder’s meeting for projects in urban areas at the district collectorate chaired by East Singhbhum deputy commissioner Amit Kumar. The meeting was attended by representatives of Jamshedpur lok Sabha MP, Jamshedpur East and Jamshedpur West MlA representatives and officials of Tata Steel and local urban bodies. Mumbai-based Darashaw consultancy that deals with construction of modern automated abattoir processing quality meat made a presentation in this regard.

“During the meeting project for the modern abattoir centre was approved. land has been identified and it would be built on a PPP mode. We will send the draft consultancy report to the State Urban Development department for implementing the project,” said DC Amit Kumar.

“The meeting was fruitful and we expect the construction of the abattoir to commence within four months and completion by early 2018. This will ensure unhygienic meat supply to the city and pave the way for slaughter house. The project cost is to the tune of over Rs 60-crore,” said Jamshedpur Notified Area Committee special officer Deepak Sahay.

According to officials of the Darashaw which made the presentation, vet surgeons will present at the abattoir right from the animal’s arrival till the time when the slaughtered animal is chopped into pieces for transport to the meat shops.

During the stakeholders meeting,  nod for installation of lED streets lights not only roads but also at roundabouts (high mast) in areas of Mango, Jugsalai and Jamshedpur (non-Tata Steel command areas) was given.

“We want to ensure proper visibility. The installation of the lED lights will be done by Energy Efficiency Services limited (EESl- a PSU of union power ministry). They will have to install and maintain the lights for seven years. We have set a target for three-four months in all the areas,” said East Singhbhum deputy commissioner.

As per the presentation given by EESl officials the project cost for installing lED lights in Jamshedpur is nearly Rs 6.37 crore while in Mango it is Rs 6.60-crore and in Jugsalai it is Rs 4.33-crore.

However, the Greater Jamshedpur master plan developed by US consultant Superior Global was not accepted.  “ We have discussed the matter. There were several glitches on execution and implementation of affordable housing plans and other urban infrastructure which was detected during the presentation by the consultant,” added the deputy commissioner.
