: Hulladek Recycling Pvt Ltd, e-waste management company, has collected more than 20 tonnes of e-waste from educational institutes of Jamshedpur in the last six months.

During the last six months, Hulladek had conducted extensive awareness campaigns and collection drives in several schools and colleges of Jamshedpur, reaching out to 75 schools and colleges and resulting in a collection of more than 20 ton of e-waste. The unconditional support of Tata Steel Utilities and Infrastructure Services Limited (JUSCO) has played an extensive role in the success of this awareness campaign.

“We have been conducting this workshop in our school for Std VI and above for quite some time. The way the awareness is generated towards e waste in children is commendable. The development of curiosity among children to know that what are the different types of e - waste around us speaks it all. Children are already aware of different types of waste. But in the modern era when digitalization has become mandatory for the growth of a person and society, e - waste awareness among children is really important. The workshop conducted by Hulladek is really commendable”, said Rashmi Sinha, principal, KPS Gamharia.

“Thank you for conducting these knowledgeable sessions and collection drives. It will definitely make the students conscious about the environment and has taught them the right way to dispose e waste”, said Namita Agarwal, principal, Jamshedpur Public School.

“Electronic waste has now become a known and talked about topic in many places in our country and also globally. The increase in generation of waste is a concern and over the years we have seen some awareness about disposal and recycling of waste. People around us are waking up to this problem and also looking for solutions that reduce the negative impact on the environment. Over the years we have seen how creating awareness has had a direct impact on e-waste collection and recycling. Since our inception, one of our key focus areas has been creating awareness and encouraging people to move towards a circular economy. Our campaigns ‘Sabko Batao E-Waste Ghatao’ and ‘Make India E-waste Free’ are all directed towards educating people about efficient waste disposal practices. Awareness is key but so is initiative. I am delighted to see so many students becoming aware of the menace and disposing of their e-waste in a proper manner”, said Nandan Mall, founder, Hulladek Recycling.

Established in 2015, Hulladek Recycling Private Limited is One of the top 5 PROs (Producer Responsibility Organisation) in the country  and already manages the e-waste of corporates like Tata Steel, Pepsico, Nestle India, Indusind Bank, Mondelez International, etc. India is the fifth largest e-waste producer globally and with over 80% of the e-waste in India being managed by the informal sector, the scope of the Extended Producer Responsibility (EPR) & Producer Responsibility Organisations (PRO) is bound to increase in the coming days.
