The State Human Resource development department is planning to set up its first Fine Arts College here with a temporary campus at Khelgaon premises.
Sharing the concept, State HRD Minister Geetashree Oraon on Friday said that they are trying to make the temporary arrangements for this “set up” at Khelgaon. “Nothing much has been thought for the Fine Arts College. We have prepared a file for this project. Unless, we do not get a proper land for this college, it will be running within Khelgaon premises,” the HRD minister said.
However, she pointed that discussions over this matter were held around two months back and fresh discussions are yet to be done. She said, “I will have to go through the file for further details. Courses on culture, visual arts and pottery will probably be carried out here.”
“It will definitely not be a PPP mode college,” she added.
A team of prominent freelance artists, including Dilip Kumar Toppo, Dinesh Singh, Vinod Ranjan and V lakra was called by Director, Higher Education, DN Ojha for drafting the proposal.
“Higher Education Director advised us that it will be better if the Fine Arts College is initiated by Ranchi University. He told us that if the proposal is drafted by RU then it can be forwarded sequentially for approval from HRD and Cabinet,” Dilip Toppo said.
Despite several attempts Ojha could not be contacted for his views. However, officials of RU responded saying that they have not received any information on this Fine Arts College.
