'State varsities don't need AICTE nod'

The All India Committee for Technical Education (AICTE) has not given approval to University College of Engineering & Technology (UCET) of Vinoba Bhave University. After returning from Delhi, VC RN Bhagat said the AICTE chairman has clearly said technical colleges started by State universities don’t need approval.

The Chairman of AICTE has cleared it that after the judgment of Supreme Court they have not given approval to any such colleges. He informed that the AICTE gives approval only to private technical colleges and since last year it has not issued approval letter to any technical college like UCET.

Students of UCET are agitating since the start of this month demanding the approval of AICTE.

In the second week of April when their agitation was at peak the university administration had assured them to get the approval letter within April 30.

The Director of UCET had even gone to Delhi to speak with officials of AICTE.
