Governor Ramesh Bais on Monday evening made the appointment of Vice Chancellors in four universities and two Pro Vice-Chancellors in two universities. As per the notification issued by raj Bhawan on Monday evening, Ajit Kumar Sinha has been made the new VC of Ranchi University—state oldest varsity. Sinha, prior to appointment of new VC of Ranchi University was serving as Pro VC of Vinoba Bhave University (Hazaribagh).
Apart from, appointment of Ranchi University, Anjila Gupta will be the first Vice Chancellor of Jamshedpur Women’s University. Her appointment has been approved by the Governor of Jharkhand, Ramesh Bais. She will have tenure of three years. Dr Nitin Madan Kulkarni issued a notification to this effect here on Monday. Angila Gupta, is presently Vice Chancellor of Guru Ghasi Das University, Bilaspur.
Tapan Kumar Shandilya, who is presently principal, College of Commerce, Arts and Science, Patna has been appointed as the Vice Chancellor of the Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University. The Dr Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University which is state 's smallest varsity has been carved out of Ranchi University. Ranchi College on April 11, 2017 was upgraded as Unitary University, named as Dr. Shyama Prasad Mukherjee University, Ranchi.
Sukadev Bhoi will now head the Binod Bihari Mahato Koylanchal University as the new Vice Chancellor. He is currently a professor at Sri Lal Bahadur Shastri National Sanskrit University, New Delhi.
Pawan Kumar Poddar, presently professor at Tilka Manjhi University, Bhagalpur has been appointed as the Pro-VC of Binod Bihari Mahato Koylanchal University.
Bimal Prasad Singh has been appointed Pro-VC of Sido Kanhu Murmu University, Dumka. He is presently professor at A N College, Patna.
Chief Minister Hemant Soren had met the Governor regarding the appointment of Vice Chancellor in five universities and Pro Vice Chancellor in two universities of the state. The meeting lasted for around one hour. The committee recommended three names for each of the universities. The Governor and Chief Minister gave consent to one name each, sources said.
