The CEO office has started the preparations for general elections with training being imparted to returning officers. Deputy Election Officer, (headquarter) Rajesh Ranjan Verma said, “The Election Office has started preparations for general elections. We have imparted training to returning officers for the election. These returning officers will act as master trainers and will provide training to junior level officers.”
The training process includes creating awareness about election process, use of electronic voting machine and VVPAT. Polling parties, including presiding officers and polling officers will be provided training on the Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT).
The VVPAT is a paper slip which will come out of the electronic voting machine (EVM) when a voter casts his vote.
The slip will show on which symbol and candidate the voter cast his vote. The slip will automatically drop in a sealed box attached to the EVM for use by the election commission. It can only be seen by the concerned voter.
He can know that the vote he cast went to the candidate or not. As many as 29,464 polling booths have been created Assembly wise, with maximum pooling booths in Mandu Assembly segment in Hazaribagh district. In Mandu there are 520 polling booths followed by which 502 polling booths have been erected at Bhawanathpur Township.
Sources said that around 50 per cent of polling booths will be declared as sensitive, however, the exact number of sensitive polling booths will be declared later as the number will be decided based on feedback from respective DCs and SPs.
Based on sensitivity of polling booths, the Office of Chief Election will place its demand for deployment of security forces in the polling booths. As the 19 districts in state are Left Wing Extremists affected district, the election will be held on phase wise.
