State to get separate power feeder for agriculture

Farmers of Jharkhand would now be fed by dedicated feeder to supply electricity exclusively for agriculture purposes. The Centre has agreed with the proposal of the Jharkhand Urja

Vikas Nigam limited (JUVNl) presented before the Power Ministry on Thursday in Delhi and also on several other important fronts.

Informing about the development over phone, Managing Director of JUVNl Rahul Purwar said that most of the proposals have been approved after the presentation. “Today’s meeting was about Deendayal Upadhyaya Gram Jyoti Yojana (DDUGJY) and monitoring of its progress. We have presented a DPR for conducting the scheme meant for rural electrification which has been discussed, analysed and approved,” said Purwar.

Major components of the DPR presented are about complete metering of 33 kv, 11 kv and consumer lines in the State which has been a task pending.

Also, there has not been separate feeder for farming purposes and now it would become a reality. Feeder substations for dedicated agriculture line would be built in villages.

“It has also been decided that complete electrification exercise of 19 villages coming under the Sansad Adarsh Gram Yojna would be taken on priority and work would be started immediately on this front in the State.

About 75-80 per cent of our demands related to DDUGJY have been approved,” added the Managing Director.

Steps would also be taken to electrify about 15,000 hamlets which are left out in the process of village electrification. System strengthening would also be conducted for the rural electrification programme by replacing 10-16 kva single phase line with higher power three phase line. Over 80 per cent of the transformers installed under the scheme are burnt and would be replaced in the process.

“Steps would also be taken to install meters as large number of rural electricity connections have been found to as unmetered. Conductors and other equipments of power sub-stations are defunct and thus needed to be replaced,” said Purwar.
