Jharkhand reported six more corona deaths and 955 fresh cases on Friday as per the health bulletin released by the health department. With six deaths, the total deaths due to Covid-19 have gone up to 297 since the pandemic broke out in the State in March this year. While the State recorded 955 fresh cases, 927 persons recovered from the infection on Friday.
The total corona cases in Jharkhand have gone up to 28,196, while 18,372 persons have recovered from infection. The number of active cases is 9,527.
Among the districts, which recorded the highest cases on Friday are Dhanbad where 241 new corona cases were traced, followed by Ranchi where 180 persons were found with infection. East Singhbhum district which has the highest casualties (119 deaths), on Friday reported 96 fresh cases. The total corona cases in the district have gone up to 4692. Ranchi still is at top with maximum positive cases. The district has 5323 positive cases and 47 deaths.Among those who tested positive on Friday include Jail IG, Virendra Bhushan. Around 3100 cops including senior police officers to security personnel have been tested positive till date since the pandemic broke out in March this year. Out of these, around 2000 cops have recovered from infection while seven cops have lost their lives battling infection.
Moreover, threat of corona infection looms over RJD chief Lalu Prasad as nine cops deployed in security of RJD supremo Lalu Prasad were tested positive.
A fortnight back, with increasing infection and danger, Lalu was shifted from the paying ward of RIMS to the Director's bungalow, where he had no threat of infection.
Neither outsiders were allowed to enter the premises nor did the RJD chief was allowed to meet any outsiders. Even after this security arrangement, once again Lalu Prasad has come under threat of infection.On Thursday, nine out of 30 policemen posted under security have tested positive. This is the second time that the RJD supremo has come under threat of corona infection.
Last month, Lalu Prasad three sewadars were tested positive. After which he was shifted to Kelly Bungalow on the instructions of Dr. Umesh Prasad.
In another development, former minister Enos Ekka has won battle against corona, however, he has been put on quarantine. On August 8, two former ministers Ekka and Raja Peter were tested positive.
The Jharkhand recovery rate stands at 65.15%, while national recovery rate is at 74.30%. The state mortality rate is 1.04% while national rate is 1.89%.
