The Jharkhand Government has directed the district administrations to lift the allotted vaccines to different districts by July 3.
The fresh directive has been issued to various districts, after the State received fresh allotment of Covishield vaccines from Centre. Officer on special duty for Covid-19 vaccination at National Health Mission, Naman Priyesh Lakra has written to all civil surgeons in 24 districts to lift allotted vaccines by July 3.
The State recently received 4,49,850 doses of vaccines. District wise, Ranchi has received maximum doses of vaccines which is 38,820 doses. Coal Capital Dhanbad received 37,210 doses of Covishield, Giridih receiving 34,690 doses, East Singhbhum 28,840 doses. Districts receiving less
vaccine are Lohardaga 6,050 vaccines, Khunti 6,960 doses among others.
Sources at the National Health Mission said the distribution of Covishield vaccines to districts is made on the basis of infection rate and population. He said, “Ranchi and Dhanbad are densely populated districts. Also these two districts along with East Singhbhum account for maximum corona cases and casualties in the State. So these districts have been supplied with many vaccines.”
Sources said now as districts have received vaccines, the immunisation pace in districts will gain momentum. For the past few days, the vaccination pace in districts including Ranchi was slow due to unavailability of vaccines.
Parwavi Devi, an elderly woman’s second dose allotment was on Tuesday but when she reached the vaccination centre at IMA Building, she was shocked to discover that the centre was not carrying out any vaccination due to shortage of vaccines. He said, “My second dose of Covishield allotment was on June 29, but I could not get the vaccines as the centre was closed.”
While on one hand the State Government is accelerating its vaccination pace, the state health department has intensified its preparation against possible third wave which is said to be lethal to children. The department in this connection is going to carry out a training programme of medical teams of four districts at Rani Children Hospital from July 5 to 15.
The medical team from Sahibganj, Saraikela, West Singhbhum, and Simdega is going to participate in the training programme.
More districts have been asked to provide the list of people coming from other states. The state government has already set up the testing facility at Railway Stations, Bus stand, Airport for passengers reaching to State from other states. But, now the districts have to submit daily reports of passengers to the IDSP.
Additional Chief Health Secretary Arun Kumar Singh has directed all the DCs that according to the experts of the global epidemic, there is a possibility of a third wave of Covid-19.
Currently, the Delta Plus variant has been confirmed in some districts of Maharashtra, Kerala and Madhya Pradesh. In view of this, it is mandatory for all the people coming from the states to be tested for covid at the same time.
