The 64th open athlete meet was announced open at lalit Narayam stadium here on Sunday. Organized by district athletic association the occasion was started with the flag hoisting by the SP Rajkumar lakra, DDC D Kandulana and the secretary of the association Sanjay Sahu. In the competitions players from Ranchi, Gumla, Bokaro, latehar, Chatra, West Singhbhu, Hazaribagh, East Singhbhum, Chaibasa, Ramgarh, Jamtara, Garhwa and lohardaga participated. As many as 600 players are participating in several events.
On the occasion lakra said, “Players are making their future bright through sports. They are getting name and fame for their district, state and the nation. The organising of such events is really very appreciable.”DDC Danial Kandulana said, “In spite of lack of resources the organization the meet for last six decades is really praise worthy.” The secretary of the association Sanjay Sahu said, “The meet was started by Rai Saheb, Baldeo Prasad Sahu and Shiv Prasda Sahu. Since then it has been continued.”
Before it a drill and March past was presented by the students of Ursuline Convent Girls’ high school in the direction of Ajay Prasad. In 4 events Gumla remained at top. On the occasion Safali Sahu, A Rasid Khan, Ashok Yadav, Nishith Jaiswal and Ajay Prasad were present.
