Jharkhand gets state cell of HBI
Women doctors of the state now have a medium of sharing their needs and problems with a surety of getting a solution. Following the 1995 constitutional norms of National Indian Medical Association (IMA), the newly elected representatives of Jharkhand State IMA announced Dr Bharti Kashyap as the new president of State Women Doctors Wing on Sunday.
Apart from empowering women doctors, State IMA has formed its own chapter of Hospital Board of India (HBI) wherein Kashyap Memorial Eye Hospital founder director Dr BP Kashyap has been given the responsibility of secretary along with two other doctors as Chairman.
State HBI body is supposed to enable and formulate IMA’s plans of accreditation, human resource management, biomedical waste disposal and central equipment maintenance.
Talking to the media persons, Dr Bharti assured of maintaining unity among all the member lady doctors of the association. “I will hold a meeting with all lady doctors across the state by the end of this month. Hopefully, the wing will help in ensuring the safety of doctors deployed in the outskirts of a district,” she told The Pioneer.
However, Dr Bharti urged the participation of housewives in the wing as honorary members like Kerala. “The Women’s Wing is basically a charitable organization so it is important to involve ladies hailing from non-medical background as well,” she pointed out.
Notably, it was the second executive committee meeting of the newly representative body of IMA today. Focusing on the other decisions of the meeting, State IMA secretary Pradip Kumar Singh said, “We are working on preventive methods of TB. Also, we have decided to start a Media Coordination Committee comprising editors of print and electronic media or their representatives. A Cultural Committee, Policy Implementation Committee, Medical Academic Committee, Service Doctors Wing and Inter Association Coordination Committee.”
A Suvidha Samiti meant for discussing the problems and demands will also be started by the State IMA. “All the problems and demands of doctors will be taken up by the Samiti firsthand and then accordingly will be forwarded to the government authorities,” State IMA president Arun Kumar Singh said.
