On the occasion of International Domestic Workers Day, the Jharkhand domestic workers launched a postcard campaign on Monday for Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioning their social demands. The demands are ratification of IlO Convention 189 by the Government of India and a national comprehensive legislation for domestic workers.

“We believe that the Prime Minister will understand the life struggles of domestic workers and will do everything possible to protect the rights of domestic workers, for he many times has spoken about the strugglers of domestic workers during his election campaigns,” stated the representatives.

Notably, the Jharkhand unit of this workers cadre includes five districts namely Ranchi, Dhanbad, Bokaro, Jamshedpur and lohardaga.
