The administration is putting constant effort to increase the number of NRI voters through National Electoral Roll Purification and Authentication Programme (NERPAP), which was started in April 2016 and will continue till August 31.

Roy had specially come to India from Auckland, New Zealand this year to get himself enrolled in the voters list.

“I went to New Zealand in 2001 for studying Bachelors in information System and Management, after completing the course, I decided to stay back. Recently, after looking at an Election Commission advertisement, I decided to get myself enrolled in the voter list. My brother too is settled in UK and might return to get himself enrolled,” said, Rajnish Kumar Roy.

Notably, Indranil Sinha, son of Sunil Kumar Sinha of Deoghar district, who at present resides in Stockholm (Sweden), is the only NRI voter who got himself enrolled here in Jharkhand before the 16th lok Sabha election. At present, only two NRI voters have enrolled themselves in the Electoral list in the State.

“At present through NERPAP, we are covering four basic dimensions which include rationalisation, error correction, awareness, gender ratio improvement. We are conducting regular awareness camp to improve the enrollment of NRIs.”said, Ranchi DC, Manoj Kumar

Ranchi DC, Manoj Kumar further added, “Besides, NRIs, we have successfully added 36 transgenders, 150 people of Primitive Tribal Groups (PTGs). To enroll new voters and to encourage them to cast their votes, Campus Ambassadors have been created. On July 26, a meeting will be conducted with them to know the current status,”
