State BJP to keep out of party's national prez poll

As State BJP unit does not fulfill the criteria to take part in the election of national president to be held soon at New Delhi, it is likely to keep out of the party’s National President Elections to be conducted on January 25 and 26.

Ongoing organisational elections in the State are going through several hiccups as Mandal elections are still lagging behind due to which elections of district elections are further getting delayed. A State unit has to conduct organisational elections in at least 50 per cent of the districts so that the elections for the State president could be conducted in the State.

“A state unit cannot take part in the elections of national president until it has conducted its elections for the State president,” said a senior party leader in the State BJP requesting anonymity.

Furthermore, out of a total of 24 districts in the State, elections for district president has so far been conducted only in four districts. While elections must be conducted in at least 14 districts is required to conduct the elections of district president, said the leader.

“Elections for the National President is to be held on January 25-26, but it does not seem to be possible to conduct organisational elections by January 22-23,” he said.

Party sources also revealed that the organisational elections are also getting delayed as verification of the newly inducted party members are yet to be done.

Organisational elections could not be conducted in a district until and unless verification of the members is done in a district.

“Election process is being conducted where verification process has already been completed,” said the worker.

State President Ravindra Rai on Sunday held a review meeting of organisational elections attended by party officials and directed to expedite the process of organisational elections in the State.
