In one of the most precise and focused attacks in recent days, the ruling BJP has hit at former Chief Minister and JMM Executive President Hemant Soren and his family on Saturday supported by some of the documented proofs over latter’s alleged disproportionate land purchases in last one decade, the latest among which appears to have taken place as recently as 2014.
Releasing documents of alleged land purchases by the Soren family, State BJP Vice President duo Aditya Sahu and Samir Oraon accused Hemant Soren of producing false undertaking before the Election Commission of India (ECI) during Assembly Election in 2014, and said that the Party would go to the ECI “through proper channel” about the matter and request the Commission to announce Hemant Soren’s election as a legislator null and void.
“The Sorens (Hemant Soren and family including father Shibu Soren) own properties worth over Rs 100 Crores, a large chunk of which has been acquired inappropriately. This figure is also only primary figure, exact amount may emerge manifold. The instance of purchasing 5.28 acres of land through 16 different registries on single day on March 30, 2007 is enough in itself to prove how hungry Hemant Soren has been of land grabbing at almost no prices. Moreover, he has hidden some of the property information from ECI, which is prima facie a punishable offence,” said Samir Oraon said media person on Saturday.
At the same time, Aditya Sahu said that ex-CM posed himself as a farmer in EC undertaking with his property at Rs 1.10 Crores and his wife of Rs 1.5 Crores. “But Hemant Soren didn’t produce any detail about his income from farming. The fact is that the land on which Sohrai Hall has been built was purchased in the name of Soren’s wife Kalpana Murmu aka Kalpana Soren from one Raju Oraon, details of which have been hidden from EC. This plot was purchased on March 9, 2009, much before 2014 elections. Even after that its details were hidden from EC,” said Sahu.
The BJP also pointed out deals on the name of Kalpana Murmu like Eden Girls Hostel (lalpur) and a plot in Harmu. “With an area of 13,340 SqFt, Eden Girls Hostel was purchased on July 4, 2009 at a cost of merely Rs 4.16 lakh, which was having market value of not less than Rs 5 Crores on the date. Similarly, 3,000 SqFt Harmu plot which was valued at Rs 90 lakh was purchased at merely Rs 5.25 lakh. All these deals are proof of the family being involved in creation of land bank disproportionately,” said Oraon.
Notably, JMM had opened fire on the ruling party earlier this week saying that they possessed detailed proof against BJP leader, but it would definitely react against the allegations made against them at right time.
