State awaits huge gift by PM

Ahead of the Assembly elections, Prime Minister Narendra Modi may endow Jharkhand with a huge gift that would not only double as a great employment opportunity for locals here, but will also be a milestone in physical asset creation of the State. The PM is likely to lay the foundation of a Gas pipeline project from Bokaro to Sindri in Dhanbad district and a 2000 MW power plant to be run with coal bed methane.

Former Chief Minister and Opposition leader Arjun Munda left for Delhi on Thursday evening to discuss the detailed plan with Ministers of Coal, Petroleum, Fertilizer and other departments, sources said. Munda will meet Petroleum Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and request him to seek launching of the ambitious project by the PM during his proposed visit to the State on August 21.

"Although the plan has not got a formal approval from the respective departments, it is very likely that the PM would lay the foundation stone of the gas pipeline project alongwith the 2000 MW power plant at Sindri. Munda Ji will discuss the details with the ministers tomorrow and will finalise things," said a source close to the former CM.

"As per the proposed plan the pipeline, in due course of time, will be extended to Ranchi for domestic and other purposes," he added.
