A two day workshop on different aspects of protection of girl child in the State took off on Friday. Many senior officials of the Government including Department of Health, Department of Women and Child Development, Consultant of Jharkhand Women Development Society, various NGOs actively working on child protection in the State, and senior officials of Plan India, the organiser of the event are taking part in the workshop. Thorough discussion under ‘Joint State level Consultation on Communication Strategy on Gender and Child Protection’ is expected to take place, where the strength, weaknesses, opportunities and threats related to the issue will widely be under scrutiny.
State Programme Coordinator (Jharkhand) of Plan India Arshad Hussain said that the core purpose of the workshop is to understand the current Information-Education-Communication (IEC) gaps and needs vis-a-vis the issue. Issues like reviewing and validating existing communication materials available or used in both Government and NGO sector on girl child protection and promotion, and developing or conceptualising appropriate communication strategy and IEC materials to ve used vis-a-vis the Beti Bachaao Beti Padhaao (BBBP) national schemes will also be widely discussed with all stakeholders.
