Four-day special mediation drive being conducted by Ranchi District legal Services Authority (DlSA) following directions of the Jharkhand High Court committee on family matters has succeeded in saving marriages which were on the verge of collapse following dispute over some trivial issues. Out of the total of 83 cases referred for mediation to Ranchi District legal Services Authority, as many as 45 cases have been successfully settled till the third day of the drive.
Interestingly, twelve of the cases filed in the family court following dispute between the two parties, resulted into the reunion of the couple after the efforts made by the expert mediators.
One of the cases was of Ravi Kumar, who got married with Shaurya Singh in the year 2015, and had filed a divorce petition in the Family Court, which was also settled successfully by mediator Neelam Shekhar.
“When I talked to them, I observed that the dispute was over trivial issues which could be resolved easily then I motivated them to think about their future and the future of their 10-month old daughter. After an extensive sitting on Thursday, the matter was finally settled and both the parties agreed to live together happily ever after with mutual consent,” said the mediator Neelam Shekhar.
During the course of mediation, the couple was made to undergo counseling on the importance of the institution of marriage and their reunion for the future of their 10-month old daughter, she added.
“We have been able to settle more than 50 per cent of the cases referred to us so far and our expert mediators also succeeded in convincing 12 of the couples in dispute for reunion,” said DlSA Secretary Rajesh Kumar Singh. Interestingly, none of the cases for mediation which had been referred to us has failed so far, he added.
“On the first day of the special drive, 16 cases were settled while on the second day our mediators succeeded in settling 9 cases. 21 of the cases were settled on the third day on Friday,” said Singh. The special drive will be concluded on Saturday, he added.
“The Jharkhand high court committee as well as JHAlSA has directed all DlSAs in the State to make all efforts to settle maximum number of cases related to family matters by including the expert mediators during this special drive,” said the DlSA Secretary.
