Special arrangements have been made to ensure ‘no security lapses’ during counting of Giridih constituency at Bazar Samiti Chas in Bokaro on 16 May.
Counting will start at 8 am; postal ballots would be counted first and later EVMs would be opened (after 30 minuets), said Deputy Commissioner Bokaro Uma Shankar Singh who is electoral officer for Giridih lok Sabha Constituency.
At least 432 officials were deployed on counting duty. Quoting the Election Commission rules Singh said counting supervisors, assistants and micro observers, persons authorized by the Election Commission, officials connected with election and candidates and their agents alone would be allowed to enter the counting centres.
“Others, including media persons are barred from entering the counting centres”, Singh added. The entire counting process would be under video surveillances, he said. Mobile phones and other electronic gadgets are banned inside the counting premises, DC said adding “election officials and scribes can use laptop or other devices to transmit results within the media cell”.
