Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon will represent Jharkhand in the 61st Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA) to be held at Islamabad in Pakistan. The decision was taken unanimously during the Annual General Meeting of CPA held at Jharkhand Assembly on Tuesday headed by the Speaker.
“Overall discussion regarding the fees collected by the newly inducted persons taking membership as well the formation of executive committee took place during the Annual Meeting of Jharkhand branch of CPA,” said CPA member MlA Kunal Sarangi.
Sarangi also shared his experiences with the other members who had represented Jharkhand during the 5th Indian Regional Conference - 2015 held in Goa. “Stress was given by the members of the Association to organize seminars on different issues in order to promote the ideals of Parliamentary democracy and rule of law and individual rights,” said Sarangi.
According to Sarangi, an annual report was also tabled during the meeting keeping an account on the total expenditure during this budget session as well as the fees collected from the newly inducted members of the Association. The annual report was presented by the Assembly Secretary Sushil Kumar Singh before the members of the Association.
“Art, Culture, Sports and Youth Affairs Minister Amar Kumar Bauri along with 20 other persons took membership of CPA this year,” stated an official release from Jharkhand Assembly.
Sarangi further added that 61st Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association for which Speaker’s name has been unanimously chosen for will be held in Islamabad in the month of September this year.
Objectives of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association are to promote rule of law and individual rights and freedoms and pursue the ideals of Parliamentary democracy. CPA Cell in lok Sabha Secretariat is functioning to achieve these objectives. CPA Cell facilitate visit of Indian Parliamentary delegation to attend annual CPA Conferences, Seminars, Workshops, Study Groups organised from time to time under the auspices of CPA and other international organizations.
The CPA Cell also provides man and material support for the meeting of regional secretaries, CPA executive committee meeting, meeting of Society-of-Clerks at the table etc. and also the events relating to Commonwealth Speakers and presiding officers conference. CPA cells co-ordinate the international activities under CPA for promotion of women empowerment at various CPA events.
CPA Cell is also attending to the work relating to CPA India Region which has the membership of CPA India Union Branch (Parliament of India) and 30 State CPA Branches (State legislatures). The events like conferences and seminars at the regional level are organised by various Branches. CPA Cells also organizes the event with the Branches within the Region and with CPA Headquarters Secretariat at london.
