Irked with problems in securing release of development funds for MlAs and a noncompliant executive, Jharkhand Assembly Speaker Dinesh Oraon on Friday threatened to resign from his post. Oraon assured legislators and whips of political parties that he will ensure that the House maintains its stature else he will put down his papers.
Speaking at the conference of Whip of all political parties, Oraon said, “If the legislature loses its dignity then it would not be appropriate for a person like me to remain on the post. I will certainly resign from the post if the legislature fails to maintain its dignity in the upcoming session”.
Oraon also took exception to the Executive’s role in the functioning of the House and expressed unhappiness over the latter’s lukewarm approach to responding to the questions of legislators sought through the House.
