SP forms special teams to clear pending cases

SP Hazaribagh Manoj Kaushik has started working on a unique idea to clear the backlog of pending cases. The Superintendent of Police has formed special investigation teams to clear the pending cases registered in different police stations of Hazaribagh district.

The members of these teams will remain free from normal law and order duties so that they can give full-time to investigate the old cases. Talking about his new initiative the police officer said many a time he had instructed the officer in-charges of different police stations in crime review meetings to clear the pending cases on priority bases but things have not changed as desired so I decided to form especial teams that will look into the old pending cases.

Kaushik said near about 700 cases are pending in only Sadar police station of the town. In entire district, the number of pending cases is about 2,000. The special investigation teams will be given a selected number of cases in the initial phase and the team members will have to submit progress report to the higher officials every week or fort nightly.

In each investigation team there will be 10 police officers. Priority will be given to those police officers who have an extra ordinary quality in the field of investigation in formation of such some teams who had already reported to the OIC Sadar PS on Saturday evening.

The members of these investigating teams had given a letter issued by SP office to the officer in charge of Sadar PS in which he had been directed to handover 20 cases to each investigating officer. When the investigator will complete these 20 cases then he will be given another 20 cases to solve. The officer in charge of Sadar PS will review the progress of cases every day in the evening. Inspector of Sadar PS will review the progress every week, and DSP (Headquarter) will review every fortnight.

SP said that it has been clearly instructed to the officer in charge that the team members will not perform the law and order and other routine duty. A special vehicle has been allotted to the team for their movement. Very soon some more investigating teams will be formed to clear the backlogs of other police stations of the district, he added.

SP Manoj Kaushik has started an experiment to clear the pending cases for which his office always gets directions and instructions from headquarter and higher officials and is hopeful that the special investigation teams will certainly clear the burden of backlogs.
