After appraising the crime scenario in rural areas of Ranchi, Superintendent of Police (Rural) Raj Kumar lakra stated that crime rates are under control in rural regions of State capital.

lakra sat down with Officers in-Charge from police stations of rural areas to review the crime trends and achievements during the past month during a crime meeting on Thursday.

“There has been a rise in instances of house-breaking and will be addressed. Number of incidents under traditional crime heads has gone down considerably. Several vehicle thieves have also been apprehended in the past month from rural pockets bordering Ranchi,” lakra stated.

We are working on suppressing extremist advances in the district too, lakra said. The crime scenario has bettered a great deal in villages of Ranchi but there is still a lot to be done, he added.

Meanwhile, a case of `2 lakh was registered from Nagri police station area on Thursday afternoon, about the time when the crime meeting was in session. “PCR van has been deployed in the area. Even though they could not prevent the incident, we will apprehend the culprits shortly,” lakra said.
