Soren Govt in dock for 'failures, corruption'

The Jharkhand BJP unit on Friday came down heavily on the Hemant Soren-led Government as it submitted a 22-page chargesheet against the ruling coalition calling the Congress a prime conspirator that was responsible for political instability in the State. A BJP delegation led by senior leaders of the State, including leader of Opposition Arjun Munda and State BJP chief Ravindra Rai, met the Governor and requested him to take appropriate action as prescribed by the law.

The BJP in the chargesheet first enlisted how Congress has been playing the role of a conspirator since the formation of the State trying to bring political instability by distracting regional parties and their leaders from their primary duty of serving the people of the State. Citing examples since the year 2000 the BJP stated that the Congress had tried to disturb the political system of the State, encouraging unethical practices among parties and independent candidates and the present Government has crossed all limits of corruption and other illicit activities.

It stated in the chargesheet that all short term Governments and three spells of President’s Rule in the State were the result of Congress’ greedy politics that took Jharkhand down on the development scale in the past 14 years. Hitting hard on the incumbent Government, the BJP stated that the coalition Government running for the last one year was purely based on conspiracy, personal gains and maneuvering. The basic framework of the Government was to loot and ruin the State, it said adding that the Congress was the protagonist of the whole story.

“Corruption in the Government machinery has taken an institutional form and non-Constitutional powers have dominated the Government. The State is not being run by the Constitution and laws. The governance has been politicised and the Government is playing with the interests of the people. The future of the State is at stake,” stated the BJP in the chargesheet.

Taking a dig at the economic policy of the Government the BJP stated that the Government has created history by lowering the Budget plan from previous years. The Government not only failed to spend more than 60 per cent of the planned expenditure but it also curtailed schemes of public welfare like Dal Bhat Yojna, ladli lakshmi Yojna, Salt Distribution scheme, Youths’ skill development schemes among others during the last one year, it stated.

Giving details of various Centrally sponsored schemes including the watershed management programme, MGNREGA, Nirmal Bharat Abhiyan, IAP schemes, urban development schemes, National Health Mission etc the BJP said that Government has utterly failed in securing the required amount of funds from the Centre.

The BJP also pulled up the Government for its lack of vision and encouraging corruption in the power sector, mining, road construction, management of excise department, thousands of transfer-postings in a short span of time, violating Apex court guidelines in the transfer-posting of IAS officers, failure to protect the interests of forest dwellers as well as the environment, granting contracts arbitrarily to chosen firms to get kickbacks in several important works.

Mocking at the CM the party alleged that he and his family had been violating the CNT and SPT Acts despite the CM’s announcement that the Acts would be strictly followed. Citing various other examples the BJP said that the government has failed to follow its own commitments announced to the public and the law and order situation of the State was at its lowest ebb.

The BJP further stated that the CM himself had accepted that he was running a Government of the mismatch. And, the mismatched wheels of the cart being pulled by the CM were giving rise to unconstitutional activities and were drowning the state in corruption, it added. “The party therefore requests the Governor, who happens to the Constitutional head of the State to intervene and pull reigns of the Government to stop the unconstitutional activities. The BJP seeks to apprise the Governor of the actual situation of the State and expects him to take appropriate action as prescribed by the law of the land,” stated the BJP chargesheet.

Apart from former CM Arjun Munda and State BJP president  Ravindra Rai, State BJP in-charge Vinod Pandey, Jamshedpur MlA Raghuwar Das, Ranchi MlA CP Singh, Ranchi MP Ram Tahal Chaudhary, ex-Mla Saryu Roy, former State president Dineshanand Goswami, Rakesh Prasad, Deepak Prakash, Brajmohan Ram, Dinesh Oraon, Seema Verma, Viranchi Narayan, Manju Rani, Ashok Kumar, Sunil Kumar Singh, Balmukund Sahay, Shailendra Singh and Gama Singh among others were part of the delegation that met the Governor.
