Civil Courts in Simdega and Garhwa will soon be equipped with solar power plants (SPP) after successful launch of a similar project in Khunti and Sahebganj.
The two projects being undertaken by Jharkhand Renewable Energy Development Agency ltd (JREDA) under the e-court project of Supreme Court of India has almost been completed and will be ready very soon for commissioning.
Jharkhand High Court Judge and Executive Chairman of Jharkhand legal Services Authority Justice DN Patel, while talking to media persons recently had also said that Simdega will soon become the third court to be fully equipped with solar power plant.
Notably, the country’s first solar powered court was inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi in tribal dominated Khunti on October 2, 2015. The Khunti court became first of its kind judicial complex equipped with 180KW grid connected to rooftop solar plant fulfilling entire energy need of the premise and also some other Government offices located beside it.
Simdega court will have a capacity of producing 100 KW, while the solar panels installed in Garhwa court will produce 110 KW of solar energy which will be sufficient enough to cater to the daily requirement of the two courts.
“The solar panels which are being installed, partly on the roof top and partly on the ground, have longevity of around 25 years and a warranty period of five years. There is also a provision of Annual Maintenance Contract (AMC) for it which could be extended for an indefinite period,” said an official of Jharkhand High Court requesting anonymity. Anyway, it will be profitable than the normal consumption of electricity per day, he added.
“If we calculate the total cost keeping in view the minimum 25 years longevity, the power consumption per day will be much lower if compared with the cost of traditional source of energy,” added the official. Installation of solar power plants in the two courts will cost more than RsRs 7-8 lakh per 10 KW, the official added.
In a bid to make judicial complexes free of power cuts and to give a boost to renewable source of energy, e-court project of the Supreme Court of India intends to equip all courts in the country with solar power plants.
