The effort to paint CM’s Secretariate with colourful Sohrai imprints has gathered momentum. Very soon several other city walls of the State capital as well as of other districts will be adorned with the art work.

Officials lured with the aesthetic designs have approached the artists associated with the ancient tribal art form to cover addresses such as Suchna Bhawan and offices of other districts.

After the creativity and skills shown by the ‘Sohrai’ artists at Chief Minister Office (CMO) building and receiving much appreciation by the masses and officials too, ‘Sohrai’ artists are all set to paint and show their varied aesthetic skills by covering all the major government buildings in the coming days.

“We have been approached to cover the Suchna Bhawan in the second round by the officials. After the completion of paper work and within a week we will start the work on Suchna Bhawan wall,” said, Jayshree Indwar, Chairperson of Stambh NGO, a group of ‘Sohrai’ artists who painted the CMO and CM residence, while ago.

“My NGO is in contact with the state government officials for more project and few officials have also assured us to give us assignments. If everything goes well, more ‘Sohrai’ art work and creations will be seen in the city at major places which includes speakers residence, Kadru flyover, police line,” informed Indwar.

On their part Hazaribagh district officials too are planning to promote ‘Sohrai’ artifacts and other indigenous tribal art forms and the NGO is being approached by the DCs of several others. “Simdega DC has approached our NGO to paint all the major walls in districts. These projects will not only enhance the livelihood of artists associated with it but also helps in beautification and will restore major building providing exposure to all the new artists associated with us,” added Indwar.

At present 50 ‘Sohrai’ women artist are associated with NGO ‘Stambh’ and have bushed their creations at varied places, initiating the project from Khunti district. The credit of transforming the CM’s place and giving whole new look to the walls goes to women artists associated with Stambh.

District wise proposals have been floated by the NGO. Soon the dilapidated wall of Kala Bhawan, Hotwar will get a whole new look, as the tender will be out to renovate the wall of Kala Bhawan soon. “As approximately `1 lakh will be incurred to renovate the Kala Bhawan wall, officials will come out with the tender and as per the bid the project will be assigned,” said Indwar.
