After a social audit, many cases of embezzlement have come into light during public hearing in the development schemes under Chinniya block of the district.
With the nexus in between Government employees and local public representatives lakhs of rupees have been withdrawn without the work done. It is not only that, the money has been withdrawn after operating the account of dead job card holders.
Public hearing was held on Thursday after the social audit of all five Panchayats of Chiniya block. For the past one week, members of the audit team conducted physical verification of the schemes and their payments. During the hearing in presence of the jury members and through repeated study of the records related to the schemes, social audit team given the time to Panchayat Sevak, Mukhiya, JE and Rojgar Sewak for correcting their mistakes.
In some cases, during physical verification of solar light which were installed under 14th Finance commission funds, concerning officials could not produce the related records before the audit team in Chapkali Panchayat. Audit team imposed a fine of `2850 on such officials. During public hearing in Chirka Panchayat team found that in the name of repairing of Maunaha Talab, `74184 were withdrawn without work done. During hearing team was also found that Job card number 231 which is on the name of deceased woman Basmati Devi `67729 withdrawn from the post office from her account in 2016-17. Team has forwarded to the matter of block for investigation.
Socail audit team also found that more than `5 lakh have been withdrawn from the account of job card holders without any knowledge. In the public hearing Vasishtha Narayan Uraon, Kapil Dev Sharma, Chhathan Kumar Ram, Rahul Kumar Choubey, Shriram Prajapati, Sheetal Panam, Shivlal Singh, Tulsi Bhuiyan, Sangita Devi, Ayub Ansari and many villagers were present.
