To address the question of role of civil engineers in smart cities and how to ensure quality management in rural roads and bridges, a two-day seminar was inaugurated on Saturday.
Speaking during the inaugural session, State Urban Development Minister CP Singh said, “The dream of smart cities can only be realised when people living
in these cities become smarter too. As far as role of engineers in this initiative is concerned, they are the backbone of
any infrastructure development project.”
He also said, “No development project will ever be stopped if the engineers do not allow it. But such is not the situation now. However the role engineers have to play bringing the vision of development to life is crucial.”
The seminar also saw participation from around 300 engineers from across the nation who shed light on how engineers can contribute in making Smart Cities a reality.
