Police are to file a prosecution report soon in a case related to the alleged slapping by State Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi on Garhwa District President Shambhu Chandrvanshi for being hooted for disloyalty and betrayal by RJD supporters at a function of Chandravanshi Samaj in Bishrampur on Sunday. Chandravanshi, the BJP MlA from Bishrampur allegedly slapped the former RJD colleague for making a turncoat remark on him. Chandravanshi had been an RJD face in Palamau for decades before joining the BJP.
“No FIR has been lodged in this case as the matter was a non-cognizable crime where some sort of scuffle took place between the two parties. A prosecution report is filed in such cases to be submitted in the court very soon,” said Palamu SP Patel Mayur Kanahaiya lal. In this case also the police are working on it and the prosecution report will be filed soon, added the Patel.
The SP however, admitted that a written complaint had been lodged by the said victim.
At a time when state government is putting its best efforts to portray a ‘progressive Jharkhand’ image at the national fore, it seems to be finding it tough to tame its own bureaucrats and legislators to behave and act in a civilsed manner.
Barely a couple of months after alleged case of beating of a senior NTPC official by a deputy commissioner in Hazaribagh, Health Minister Ramchandra Chandravanshi on Sunday was charged of slapping a former RJD colleague in Garhwa.
Allegedly, Chandravanshi slapped RJD leader Shambhu Ram Chandravanshi and got his men and bodyguards beat him more at a function in Garhwa.
Meanwhile, Rashtriya Janata Dal, taking the incident seriously has demanded the Governor to sack Chandravanshi from the Cabinet.
The release further stated that the RJD State President has also formed a three member committee comprising party’s spokesperson Manoj Kumar, RJD Youth President Mustaffa Ansari and State in-charge Arun Chandravaanshi to investigate into the matter by visiting the place and submit a report soon to him.
“The health minister wants to establish ‘goonda raj’ in the state which is strongly opposed by the party. We also demand the Governor to dismiss Chandravanshi from the cabinet,” said the RJD State General Secretary Manoj Kumar Pandey.
The JMM too, has demanded Chandravanshi’s removal from the cabinet. Chandravanshi on the other hand has denied any kind of manhandling or involvement of any sort of verbal confrontation with anyone.
“It was purely a social function which had nothing to do with politics. Some hooligans were definitely present there trying to stir up unnecessary trouble. They were later sidelined by the people present in the social gathering,” the Minister said.
