Director General Of Police DK Pandey is closely monitoring the situation at Baroura Shariff under Kunda police station in Chatra district. Baroura Shariff is the holy shrine of the Muslims and here on Tuesday and Wednesday communal disturbances occurred. Six houses belonging to the minority community were gutted.  There is no loss of any human life.

Talking to The Pioneer Pandey said, “What DIG Hazaribagh and SP Chatra have told me today that on Tuesday the two communities saw red against each other on some DJ sound/text played the next day of Holi and following the intervention of the police the two communities put their heads down for peace and amity and begged for community settlement instead of any intervention of law and since the two communities had so vowed to maintain peace there was no pint of doubting them.” He said the intervening night March 14/15 was all calm and peaceful which further indicated the two communities meant peace and harmony.

The DGP said, “Today our SP and other officials were there at this place and everything was peaceful. However once the higher officials left for Chatra communal commotion erupted leading to the setting afire of six houses there. My officers again rushed back and took control of the situation there.”

“SP Chatra is camping at the site. Police arrangement and patrol has been further strengthened and beefed up. Rumour mongers have been warned to face consequences under the provisions of law,” he added.

“I have been given this information that some people from Bihar descended here and created communal troubles. Our police would sternly deal with all such elements out to create/foment communal trouble here,” The DGP further said.

DGP said ‘ I have spoken to home secretary and have apprised him of the arson and loss of household property of six people. The home secretary has assured me that Chatra DC and other revenue officials would reach the victims’ houses and prepare a report for compensation to be given to them’.

DGP expressing hope said the police would nab the culprits and would do all to mitigate the sufferings of the victims.
