The Special Investigation Team formed to probe the murder of Congress leader Neeraj Singh has on Monday detained Jharia MlA Sanjeev Singh for questioning. Police sources of Dhanbad said that the MlA was taken to Saraidhela police station in the evening for questioning in connection of the firing incident taken place last Sunday killing four persons including Neeraj Singh on the spot.
“The MlA has been detained in the course of the investigation. There were certain leads and the SIT is working on that,” said a police official. It is learn that besides the SIT members, Dhanbad’s Senior Superintendent of Police Manoj Ratan Chothe and City SP Ansuman Kumar remained present during the interrogation.
Notably few other aides of the MlA were taken into police custody and preventive detention for their alleged role into the gruesome murder of Neeraj Singh, the ex-Mayor of the coal city. Sanjeev Singh along with few others were named in the FIR filed by the brother of the slain leader.
