As the first majority government of BJP in Jharkhand completes three years of governance on Thursday, Urban Development Minister CP Singh recounted achievements by the department in city area of the State capital so far on Wednesday.

From parks to houses, roads to drains and from electricity supply to tapped water supply, the Minister counted anything and everything done by the Government to change face of the city in last three years.

Singh, however, admitted construction of flyover among the biggest challenges in recent times due to various reasons.

He said that whatever opposition or agitation the government was facing from landowners in catchment area were more political and less social or economical in nature. At the same time, he said that confusion over proposed Transport Nagar in Pandara Market premise was also a result of petty politics.

“Expenditure during last three years surpassed entire expenditure of first 14 years of Jharkhand collectively as far as the Urban Development is concerned.

From construction to beautification and renovation, we tried our best to get city in a brighter and cleaner look. Be it fresh concrete roads, increased lED street lights, new water pipelines, houses for the poor and lower income groups, shelter homes or proposed marketplace for street vendors, we tried to touch upon issues and sections of societies which remained neglected since decades,” said Singh while speaking with presspersons at his residence on Wednesday.

Notably, the government took many steps to give a face-lift to the city, including beautification of ponds, parks, roads and construction of new buildings.

The Minister said that the slaughter house was complete and would go functional at anytime, construction of vendors market in Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium for 480 vendors at a cost of ` 400 crores was about to complete in January 2018 and Urban Haat at Kanke at a cost of ` 17.20 crores in August 2018.

“At the same time, Children Park in Morhabadi at a cost of ` 1.59 crores, construction of vegetable market in Naga Baba Khatal, beautification of dozens of ponds, including Bada Talab, construction of Birsa Bus Stand, construction of Rabindra Bhawan and many other fresh projects initiated during last three years of government are going to be completed this year. We shall also get 37 water tanks constructed to get away with weak water pressure issue in catchment areas,” added Singh where Kanke MlA Jeetu Charan Ram, RMC Deputy Mayor Sanjeev Vijayvargeeya, Ranchi Mahanagar BJP president Manoj Mishra and others were also present.

Ram stressed upon development works done in rural areas in his constituency and said that he tried and succeeded in strengthening road network in distant areas of Kanke constituency in last three years where there was no road connectivity since recent years.
