An SI of State police DK Singh was rushed to Medica in Ranchi when he got injured with his service revolver at Daltonganj police line, said DSP Premnath.
Giving details, Premnath said Singh was handling his revolver when one shot came out hurting him on his right side. Premnath said Singh is a lefty and this is by mistake or just an accident.
To a query if there was any bout of depression or whether the police officer was under any duress or stress and strain DSP said none of these things at all. It was just an accident, he reiterated.
Singh was removed as officer incharge of Ramgarh police station in Palamu and was put in police line Daltonganj where on Wednesday September 6 he met with this kind of freak shot hurting him badly.
Premnath said the police official has been operated upon in Ranchi and is responding to treatment well.
