Disheartened ace shooter Tara Shahdeo, fighting for justice after having been tortured and forced by her estranged husband Ranjit Singh Kohli for embracing Islam, called on the newly elected Chief Minister Raghubar Das on Tuesday, requesting him to expedite the process of handing over her case to the CBI. Das, according to Tara, assured all possible help to her in this regard and also promised to provide support from the state government to pursue her career in shooting.
“Since the state police failed to make any progress in the case, I had gone to meet the new CM to make him aware of the situation requesting him to take proper steps to expedite the process of handing over the case to the CBI, which was still pending for some unknown reasons,” said Tara. “The CM assured me that he will take proper steps in this regard and promised that I will get justice,” she added.
Tara has been demanding a CBI inquiry into the case since she lodged an FIR at the Hindpiri Police Station apprehending the evidences might get diluted under outside pressure as her estranged husband was in contact with several influential persons holding important positions in the state administration and Judiciary as well.
Despite the case was referred to the CBI four months back by the former Chief Minister Hemant Soren, it was yet to be formally taken over by it, she said. “CM sir told me that he was going to Delhi soon and will talk to the higher officials in the CBI so that immediate steps could be taken in this regard,” she said.
Despite former Chief Minister Hemant Soren referring the case to them in the month of August last year, the case is yet to be taken over by CBI. According to Tara, the CM appreciated the fact that she has qualified for 35th National Games to be held at Kerala. “He told me to write an application for providing a trainer for my shooting practice assuring that he will take care of all possible support to the genuine demands made by me as a sportsperson,” said Tara.
Referring to the promise made by the Hemant Soren Government for providing job to her, Das also assured her that she will definitely be given job in the area of her interest. “CM assured me that I need not worry as my job was confirmed. He said that it will be arranged for me from any other quota if required,” Tara said.
A PIl has also been filed at Jharkhand High Court seeking an investigation by the National Investigation Agency, Ranchi police failed to make any headway in the case even after a week the FIR was lodged against her husband and mother-in-law.
