Jharkhand Mukti Morcha chief Shibu Soren and party’s MP in the Rajya Sabha Sanjeev Kumar today said that the Shashinath Jha murder case was a political conspiracy against the JMM supremo to suppress the voices of the poor tribals in the State. Although, the duo did not name any political party behind the “conspiracy” but said that a revelation before the public will soon follow.
Addressing a press conference at the JMM Chief’s residence, here on Friday, Kumar said that since the matter was disposed by the Apex court they can say that the whole episode was a political ploy to frame Soren. Kumar, who also happens to be Soren’s lawyer, said that the fight for justice does not end here as they would try their best to help families of Jha and another person Alim get justice.
Shibu Soren’s personal secretary Shashi Nath Jha had gone missing from Dhaula Kuan area of south Delhi on May 22, 1994. He was last seen in Ranchi allegedly in the company of Soren's loyalists on the next day.
However, Kumar said that the CBI team had dug the carcass of one Alim from Nagri area of Ranchi. Alim was a resident of Tikratoli in Nagri and the villagers had given a written statement to the CBI that the carcass was of Alim, who had also gone missing from the village, he added.
“Three people had become witness in the case and had stated that they had seen killing, transportation and burial of Jha’s body but all the three were unreliable. One of them is still absconding. In fact, the CBI wanted to frame Guruji (Soren) and it never went to Alim’s house to find the truth despite the fact that Jha’s family had denied that the carcass found was of Jha,” he said.
Kumar said that he would suggest Nand Kishore Mahto (present on the occasion), who was one of the prime accused of murder in the case, to demand an impartial probe in the case. “If it was Alim’s body then CBI is guilty of misleading two families. Even Kalim, Alim’s brother who was fighting for him was killed in two months after his death. It is now the duty of the CBI to find the whereabouts of Sahshi Nath Jha,” said Kumar.
JMM Chief Shibu Soren, who was made to remain silent on most of the issues could hardly nod or deny on the statements of Kumar. However, they said that they will help Shashi Nath Jha and Alim’s family to get justice by all possible means.
