Sharad reiterates demand for JPC probe in Rafale deal

Loktantrik Janta Dal (LJD) leader Sharad Yadav on Saturday reiterated his demand for Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) probe in Rafale deal adding it would bring truth before the people.

Yadav was in Ranchi to meet RJD surpemo Lalu Prasad at Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS). Talking to mediapersons after the meeting Yadav claimed there were several advantages of handing over the contract to Hindustan Aeronautics Limited (HAL).

“A large number of youths would have got jobs while the building of the aircrafts would have started in India. The steps would also have strengthened the country’s security,” Yadav said.

He claimed instead the contract was awarded to a company which has no experience in making aircrafts. He criticised the NDA Government for purchasing only 36 aircrafts presently instead of 126 planned earlier.

The Government had not even informed Supreme Court properly about the deal during a hearing on the issue he said adding under the prevailing circumstances a JPC was needed.

Yadav said he came to meet Lalu as he learnt that the latter’s health was not good. Yadav added he also discussed ways to unite Opposition parties during the meeting.

The LJD leader said the opposition parties must stop the BJP from coming back to power at centre and Bihar.

He pointed out that PM had made 42 promises to countrymen including depositing Rs 15 lakhs in accounts of citizens and providing employment but failed fulfill them. BJP is again raising the issue of temple and mosques to polarise votes, he said.

Asked about PM’s criticism of the Opposition parties Yadav alleged PM has started talking like a sick person whose utterances have little meaning.

Meanwhile after meeting Lalu, HAM supremo Jiten Ram Manjhi said the decision regarding seat-sharing in Bihar would be taken during the coordination committee meeting.
