Shah pitches for 'politics of performance'

BJP national president Amit Shah on Tuesday called upon people to vote for a majority Government as a panacea for all the problems facing Jharkhand and reiterated the Modi Government’s commitment for the development of eastern zone of the country.

Shah, while speaking during the release of the BJP manifesto here for the five-phase assembly elections in Jharkhand beginning on November 25, appealed people to give a chance to the BJP to form a majority Government in order to change the agenda during the next elections.

“I promise that the agenda being raised by us during this election will itself change in the next elections. Instead of promising power, roads etc to the people, we will be talking about the rank  of Jharkhand in the list of developed States in the country in the next Assembly elections,” he added.

The BJP chief further added that the vision document being released by us will itself become a vision document for the State. “The party, according to the manifesto, is going to the elections with three-point agenda – stable government, transparent administration and development state,” Shah said.

lauding the achievements of the party, Shah said that the BJP introduced the ‘Politics of Performance’ in the country and on the basis of its performance, it started forming majority governments in Gujarat, Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh and finally at the Centre by Prime Minister Narendra Modi,” Shah said.

He said that Modi has actually proved in the last five months what a majority government could do towards the field of development. “Be it increasing the development rate, lowering prices or strengthening the law and order situation in the country or introducing welfare schemes reaching to the last person of the social strata, it is all before you. We need not comment on it,” he said.

Shah said that the works done at the Centre or in the State in the last five months will be the basis for securing a majority government in the State. Referring to the neighboring state, Shah said that despite having all the mineral and natural resources Jharkhand lagged far behind Chhattisgarh which has come out of the BIMARU state block and is counted as a developing state. Jharkhand due to unstable governments during the last 14 years is still lagging behind, he added.

“The political manipulations went to such a low that even an independent MlA became the Chief Minister in the State,” said Shah.

Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on the other hand, calling elections a game of Chemistry rather than Mathematics, said that the voters have become smarter now, who despite having negative inputs produced by political experts, gave 2/3rd majority at  the Centre. “And the results are before you; unlike before, PM’s hands do not shake even while taking difficult decisions as was quite evident during  the UPA government,” Jaitley added.

He added that according to the new ordinance brought by the Modi’s government, 100 per cent of the money received by the auction of coal blocks will go to the State to which those blocks belong to. “Jharkhand will also be benefitted by the ordinance along with Chhattisgarh, West Bengal and Odisha,” said Jaitley.

Jaitley further added that that the possibility of forming majority government in the state has improved after the party’s performance during the last lok Sabha elections. “This possibility must be converged to the reality during the coming Assembly elections. Once a majority government is formed, you need not worry about the person sitting beside you for the next five years. The government can concentrate better on the voters,” he said.
