Severe vaccine crunch hits hard vaccination in Palamu

Published on:

Severe shortage of vaccines has hit the vaccination the hardest way in Palamu on Wednesday. Sources said 21 vaccination sites have been temporarily shut down for the purpose of the vaccination. It is feared these will not be opening in another two or three days.

Civil surgeon incharge Palamu Dr Anil Kumar said today they are having acute shortage of the vaccines over the last few days and on Wednesday the crisis has deepened so much so that except vaccination site at MMCH in Daltonganj all other 21 vaccination sites have been temporarily closed for the vaccination till the arrival of the consignment of the vaccines.

Anil Kumar further said with depleting availability of the doses MMCH has been asked to vaccinate only hundred eligibles today.

Civil surgeon said MMCH may be doing only a hundred vaccinations on coming days like Thursday and Friday as well.

Anil Kumar said despite this acute crunch of the vaccines the eligibles for second dose will be preferred to one going for the first dose.

Sources said there was a kind of dragging on the number of the vaccines as it was in the sharp descending order slipping down from 8,000 doses to 2,000 doses in just three days.

Civil surgeon said the crisis is evident but our eligible people have shown no panic or anger at us. He said the eligibles know this vaccine shortage is all over the country and their district is no exception.

Jharkhand receives consignment of doses from the centre by plane and so everyone here in Ranchi looks towards the arrival of the doses from the centre which on its arrival is distributed among the 24 districts of the state.
