Seth Vs Sahay: Wives hit campaign trail too

With their husband’s contesting the Lok Sabha elections 2019, wives of many senior politicians too are determinedly campaigning for them. Inspite of the rising temperature, they are putting their best foot forward and have come out in full support of their husband to not just garner votes but also persuade the female voters in the State.

Rekha Sahay- wife of Congress candidate from Ranchi Subodh Kant Sahay is busy donning many hats. Being a home-maker and a theatre actor, she is also busy canvassing for her husband fighting the elections from the State capital.

“I always support my husband and make it a point to be a part of his election campaign. Being a responsible citizen, am also aware about the situation and campaign accordingly. I primarily focus on interacting with the women voters. Women in rural areas come out to talk and open up very easily,” said Rekha who has been canvassing in Ranchi and its surrounding areas.

She further added, “Apart from a being a candidate’s wife, as a citizen also I have suffered a lot in these past five years. I am very disturbed with the increasing prices and the unfulfilled promises of the present government. I feel people who are aware get hurt the most.”

While Sahay is banking on women voters, Neeta Seth is convincing people to vote on the basis of the work done by the present government. Wife of former State Khadi Board chief Sanjay Seth, Neeta has been visiting the far flung areas around Ranchi and is trying to convince people to vote for her husband and BJP candidate.

“I am very new to all this but I have tried to cover as many areas around Ranchi as possible. It has been an awesome experience and it was great to interact with so many people. Times are changing and women even in remote areas are very aware about their rights. They want to come out and take active part in the election,” said Neeta Seth.

“I feel privileged that I am able to do this not just for my husband but also our PM in a small way. I have got a very positive response from the people. Women safety is our priority and the government has done a lot in empowering women. Passing the Triple Talaq bill in Lok Sabha and making it a criminal offence is one such example,” Seth further added.
