BJP parliamentarian from Ranchi, Sanjay Seth on Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and handed him a request letter highlighting slew of infrastructure projects for State Capital. Seth, through his request letter, urged the Prime Minister for revival of the Heavy Engineering Corporation (HEC) plant, setting up All India Institute of Medical Science (AIIMS) and operation of monorail in Ranchi.

Seth informed the Prime Minister that more than 50,000 families are dependent on HEC which was set up in the early sixties. The Ranchi MP, highlighting the poor condition of HEC, said that with the revival of HEC plant, which is known as mother of all industries, Jharkhand can retain its lost glory. Heavy Engineering Corporation Ltd, is one of the leading suppliers of capital equipment in India for steel, mining, railways, power, defense, space research, nuclear and strategic sectors.

Seth during his meeting with Prime Minister Modi also requested him to set up another AIIMS in Jharkhand. He said that in absence of better medical facilities in Jharkhand, patients from the State are left with no other options but to move to other states. With setting up AIIMS in Ranchi, the health hub will not only cater to the demands of patients in Jharkhand, but patients from neighbouring states such as Bihar, West Bengal and Odisha too will get better medical treatment.  He said that presently there is only RIMS catering to the medical needs of poor patients.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi during his first tenure had gifted AIIMS centre at Deoghar, however, the Outpatient department (OPD) facilities are yet to start at the health hub.

The Ranchi MP also requested the Prime Minister for operation of monorail in Ranchi. He said that with the increase in population, there is a huge problem of traffic jams in the State Capital. He said that Ranchi's population is around 36 lakh, but the State Capital lacks a better traffic system. The talks of running monorail is not a new project. It was former Chief Minister Raghubar Das who had mooted the idea of running a monorail project in Jharkhand, but the project could not start. The Prime Minister listened to the MP's demand and assured him of his demand.

Earlier, Seth in Lok Sabha raised the issue of Corporate  Social Responsibility (CSR) projects by the Ministry of Coal. Seth said that Jharkhand is a fertile land for sports talents. There are large numbers of players playing at the world level and there are many players who are still looking for opportunities in different games. For their promotion, better training and protection of such sportspersons, the Ministry of Coal should take steps to provide them better training facilities under CSR.

Seth also praised the Coal Ministry for initiating the process for opening a national level library in Ranchi under CSR. Union Coal Minister Pralhad Joshi informed Ranchi MP about various CSR projects run by the ministry of coal. He said that a sports academy is operational at Khelgaon (Ranchi). At the same time, the work of setting up fabricated toilets at a cost of about Rs 17 crores is going on at different railway stations of Jharkhand. In Ranchi itself, Lal-Ladli Yojana and many other programs related to education are going on at a cost of Rs 1.27 crores.
