Chief Secretary Sajal Chakraverty on Wednesday directed Deputy Commissioners of all the districts to pull up their socks to make administration people-friendly. The CS also ordered to make control rooms functional in every district for the purpose.
"Set up one landline and one mobile number in the control rooms and make it functional within 24 hours. I will make call after three days. Many of the calls may be fake, but what we want to check your reaction to the calls made related to crime, accident or distress. Your action would be logged," said the CS.
Underlining the functions of the control room, the CS said that 'mai-baap' culture should end and there should be a system which common man can rely upon. "I want that you are not on a 9 to 5 job but on 24 hours duty," said the CS in strict terms. He also blew fear of naxal from the minds of officers while stressing on eliminating corruption.
“Now Maoists have returned to their political indoctrination policy in which they brainwash the youths saying that the system breeds corruption. You have to do something about corruption. I can say from my own experience that 90 per cent complaints about corruption we received are correct. I appeal you to just not catch the erring person but also rub them and just not let them of. Your ACR should be like a business transaction between you and me,” said Chakraverty adding that inordinate delay should not take place.
The DCs have also been directed to place list of plots under Government and forest at Circle Office so that no illegal mutation can be done, especially in the areas under intense encroachment and near urban centers. Also sending spine chilling message to the doctors ‘relaxing’ on deputation by taking transfers in near urban centers, the CS instructed senior officials to cancel all such postings from immediate effect. “People come to me asking for transfer near urban areas and later shifts on deputation in towns. Who would work in villagesIJ All deputations of doctors be cancelled. If the Minister wants to do stop this let him do so,” added the CS.
