In order to ensure the completion of service lanes on either side of the four-lane, Seraikela-Kharsawan district administration has embarked on an eviction drive on Tata-Kandra Road in Adityapur.
Armed with drilling machines, excavators and hammers for removing portion of the land that belonged to PWD-Road Construction, the representatives of the administration evicted several constructions. The administration started demolishing the encroached portion of the buildings just a fortnight after serving notice to the house-owners and after verifying their documents, without giving any further chance to save their landed property.
One of the shop-keepers, Rajesh Paswan, said that the Circle Officer, Gamharia block, lakhi Ram Baske had demanded for verifying the papers of landed property. “Though we had submitted the papers in time but a demolition team arrived this morning, and began to dismantling the building,” noted Paswan. Executive engineer, Road Construction, Sanjay Kumar Singh, however, refuted the claim of the shop-keepers, maintaining that the administration was demolishing the encroached portion of the building.
In all 26 shops and building have to be partially demolished on either side of the 15.3 kilometre-long Tata-Kandra four-lane shortly as the service-lane on either side of the four-lane is lying incomplete due to the encroachment. Though the ambitious Rs 185.5 crores road project was supposed to be completed by April 20 this year, but the encroachment hurdle has caused the executing agency, Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Company limited (JARDCl) to miss the deadline. The ambitious Tata-Kandra four-lane is being set up by Jharkhand Accelerated Road Development Company limited (JARDCl) at the behest of the PWD (Road Construction).
When majority work of the project is complete, encroachment along the four-lane at some places in Gamharia and in major portion on Adityapur-Gamharia stretch has emerged as a stumbling block on the way of completing the service lane. Meanwhile, the local administration has started a fresh initiative to remove the encroachment from along the four-lane so as to pave the way for speedy completion of the Tata-Kandra four-lane project.
