September rain necessary for farmers, says Agro-Met expert

Rainfall received in the month of August 2016, has compensated the deficit occurred in the month of June and July this year. Moreover, farm expert feels more downpours in September would further boost the prevailing favourable condition for paddy cultivators of the State.

“The amount of rainfall received will boost the paddy cultivation in the State, as approximately 15 lakh hector land has been brought under paddy cultivation. At present the optimum soil moisture level is perfect for farming. If this condition prevails in the month of September too, it will be beneficial for Kharif crops production,” said, Birsa Agriculture University (BAU) Agro Met expert,  Dr A Wadood.

“For paddy field, stagnant water is suitable for plant growth. At present, stagnant water is sufficient in the lowland areas and will benefit the farmers,” Wadood added. Notably, Jharkhand has experienced surplus rainfall in August and only three per cent deficit is registered this year in comparison to the last year record.

On Sunday, weather remained mainly dry across the state. Highest maximum temperature of 33 degree Celsius was registered at Jamshedpur while lowest minimum temperature 23 of degree Celsius at Ranchi was recorded.

“The low pressure area over west central Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast persists. The associated upper air cyclonic circulation extending upto mid troposphere levels tilting southwestwards with height also persists. Nevertheless, the south west monsoon remained weak over Jharkhand, hence at present the weather remains dry,” said, Forecast officer of Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) Ranchi observatory, Upendra Srivastava.

No warning of instant weather change is issued by the MET department officials on Sunday yet there are feeble chances of rainfall at few areas.
