Palamu administration recently launched Run For Democracy and drew good response from people of all walks of life. The Run For Democracy was held to inspire, motivate and enthuse the voters to cast vote and not to play cards on the day of voting slated here for April 10.
However with this run for democracy there is a constant run for the naxals here who are out playing hide and seek game. The model code of conduct came into effect on March 5 morning and since then the Palamu police are on the toes of the naxals but till reporting no catch of Naxal worth notice has taken place.
It had a big seizure of 76 hand grenades and a large number of detonators along with arrest of a couple of naxals but thereafter the naxals have either gone into hiding or have shifted their territory said police sources.
Arrival of new police officers may have slowed down the cycle of achievement said one police official here as new police officers areyet to get familiar with the area and the operatives of naxals and other gangs here.
The IG police Palamu A Natarajan is of the view that police are doing its work and concedes that achievement is not what it should have been nevertheless the IG police Natarajan speaks good of his three SPs YS Ramesh ( Palamu), SK Jha ( Garhwa) and Michael S Raj ( latehar) but skips question as to who among the three is the most competent one saying’ All are putting in their heart and soul for the peaceful conduct of poll here’.
Police sources said there are more than three dozen critical zones where Maoists may show any insanity of action. The places stretch from latehar to Garhwa and Palamu is sandwiched between the two districts latehar and Garhwa.
Pipra, Harihurganj, Salaiyya, Mahudand, Mahur, Sarja, Saraiddeh to name few are critical ones . Similarly in latehar lat, latu, Kumandi, Hehegara, Chhipadohar, Garu, Pat areas of Mahuadarn are very sensitive from naxals’ point of view.
In Garhwa the stretch that touches UP and Chhatisgarh are vulnerable most. Police sources said sensitive/vulnerable and critical areas are under police vigil here.
