NaMO wave is there, so is the impact of BJP’s intensive campaigning programme including those on the social media and other virtual media. But Bharatiya Janta Party’s (BJP) Hatia constituency candidate Seema Sharma seems to have set her focus on developing a personal bond with each voter during her campaign exercise.
Sharma smiles when the voters smile and speaks only when voters want her to speak. During her padhyatra at the Jharkhand High Court on Friday she visited advocates of every category personally in order to garner votes.
“I have come here to request you all to cast your vote on lotus symbol. Afterall, you are educated and noble professionals of society. Residents are still devoid of the basic facilities like roads, water and power supply. Please support BJP in winning more than 40 seats out of the 81 assembly seats for the development of the city as well as state,” she told the lawyers with folded hands.
The 47-year-old lady clearly mentions her purpose behind the campaigning. Instead of seeking votes for herself, she wants people to vote for her party led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. “If BJP fails to grab majority assembly seats, Modiji will not be able to make the CM of his choice. So, please vote in large numbers in your constituency,” she said.
Citing the recent crime incidents at the state capital, she says, “We see a ward councilor murdered at his home. Women often fear to wear ornaments outside their home. BJP will help in creating a peaceful society for all.”
Sharma accompanied by former Assembly Speaker cum Ranchi constituency candidate CP Singh was seen interacting with the advocates after Singh as a sign of respect towards the senior leader.
Her husky voice signified that she had been campaigning since morning. Asked the reason, her young assistant said, “Madam is campaigning for around 10 to 12 hours everyday. The tight schedule might have affected her throat.”
“We do not see an alternative to BJP’s candidates here. It is sure, Sharma will win from Hatia,” an advocates was seen discussing among his colleagues after hearing Sharma’s speech.
The moment senior advocates saw CP Singh and Seema Sharma at their association office in the Court, they gathered around the leaders and requested them to have lunch.
Interestingly, Sharma’s amiable personality is attracting women also. Jharkhand State Commission for Protection of Child Rights member Ranjana Choudhary with a woman advocate said that their presence in Sharma’s programme for the only reason that she is a Woman. “We want a woman candidate to win this time. It is due this reason, the moment we came to know that Seema Sharma is about to visit High Court, we left our work for sometime and came here immediately,” Choudhary said.
