Security has been beefed up across Bokaro, Dhanbad and Giridih districts ahead of the Independence Day as CPI (Maoist) issued protest. Cops are keeping a hawk-eyed vigil to spoil any possible threats, police said. The Intelligence Bureau has issued an alert stating that the Maoists could carry out strikes during Independence Day, source said adding, “since the Maoist is observing ‘Black Day’ on 15 August, its cadre could target security cops and Government properties too”.

Maoists could plant landmines to target security forces in Bokaro, Dhanbad and Giridih districts, sources said. Meanwhile, the districts police have decided to put cities under foolproof security cover. On the direction of higher ups, high alert has been declared across the district, said Bokaro City DSP.

Security persons have been instructed to tackle all adverse situations and keep strong security arrangements. Patrolling has been intensified in the districts, he said. More than 120 spots were identified as a most sensitive place only in trio districts and cops were asked to keep special attention, sources said.
