As the city gears up for welcoming President Pranab Mukherjee on one of his shortest spanned visits to Ranchi from April 1 evening to April 2 afternoon, the district administration has made all possible security arrangements for first citizen of the country. Though the President will appear in public for merely around one hour on Sunday in city, the administration has almost finished all its drills and reviewed arrangements to ensure a safe and pleasant visit of the President.

“We have been waiting for final plan of President’s visit. He is expected to arrive in Ranchi on April 1 evening and will stay in Raj Bhawan. Though is public appearance is very short on next day morning, we are prepared with security and other necessary arrangements. There might be a change in traffic plan for some hours on April 2 also,” said Deputy Commissioner (DC) Manoj Kumar on Wednesday.

The President will lay foundation stone of Rabindra Bhawan on April 2 morning, most probably around 10AM and will inaugurate Haj House online from there itself. He will fly to Deoghar soon after and to Bhagalpur from there on same day.

“We are ready with arrangements from our side. The area around proposed Rabindra Bhawan where President has to make public appearance has been under surveillance and drones will remain on the job to keep vigil on everything around the proposed visit site,” said City SP Kishore Kaushal on Wednesday.

A number of Adivasi organisations primarily dissatisfied with changed CNT/SPT Acts and wanting the change to be rolled back have been reported to be planning to meet the President. However, Kumar said that he was not aware of anything so far. “Though we have not come across anything like this as of now, we are ready to handle situation,” he added.
