'Secret Cong-JVM deal facilitated Govt formation'

Amidst jubilation in JMM camp following the Hemant Soren-led government in the State, senior BJP leader and former Chief Minister Arjun Munda on Monday claimed that there had been a 'secret deal' between Babulal Marandi-led Jharkhand Vikas Morcha (JVM) and the Congress. The deal was struck keeping in view the future alliance between the two parties.

Addressing a Press conference here, Munda said "there has been a secret deal between the two parties that resulted in the the formation of the new government. JMM has pledged 10 out of the total 14 lok Sabha seats in the State to the Congress in lieu of its support to the government. There was yet another secret deal by which the Congress and JVM had decided to share the 10 seats between them. It's a double game. Everyone knows that JVM was an old poll ally of Congress and they have long been in talks for such deal. JVM has had a big role in the formation of the government.

lashing out at the newly formed government, Munda reiterated that the Hemant Soren government was formed to fulfill a hidden agenda and had nothing to do with welfare of the people.

"People have the right to know about the agreement. We all know that there was some kind of a deal between the two parties. It should be made clear what the deal was for," Munda noted.

Replying to another query about incumbent Assembly Speaker and BJP leader CP Singh, who has not resigned despite the formation of the government, Munda said the Speaker's office was run on the basis of rules and it had its own privileges. He also said that those who had taken the support of the tainted were also culprits.

Defending Jharkhand Assembly Speaker CP Singh's continuation on the post, Munda said constitutional provisions should be upheld."We are of the opinion that the rule of law must prevail," Munda quipped.

Munda without elaborating hinted that something would come up on July 18, when the special session of the State Assembly would be held.

‘Secret Cong-JVM deal facilitated Govt formation’ He expressed concern that the government was formed with the support of tainted MlAs, thus unmasking the real face of JMM and Congress. To another query, Munda said "the government is already on different support systems and we don't know which one will snap first."

The former CM also attacked the Union government for bringing in the Food Security Bill in haste and questioned the reasons behind discontinuing the 'Mukhyamantri Dal Bhat Yojna' introduced by his government in the State.
