On the basis of the complaints registered by the people related to rampant black marketing being done here, a raid was conducted on Monday by Ranchi Sub-Divisional Officer of Sadar Anjali Yadav during which five persons involved in the activity were arrested. Yadav said that artificial scarcity was being created by the stamp vendors in order to sell it on a much higher price than the actual price.

“On the basis of a tip-off given by a person regarding black marketing of stamp papers at the Civil Court premises in Ranchi, we conducted a raid with the help of a police team and arrested five persons involved in the activity,” said the SDO. One of our people was sent as customer to the stamp vendors who were charged Rs 600 for a stamp paper having a value of Rs  500 and Rs  200 for a stamp paper of Rs 20, she said.

“Artificial scarcity was also being created by the stamp vendors in order to sell it at high rate and promote black marketing,” said the SDO. Moreover, during the raid it was also found that no display of stock had been done by the stamp vendors, she said.
