SDO makes surprise visit to Sadar Hospital

SDO, Hazaribagh Sadar, Anuj Kumar Prasad made a surprise visit to Sadar Hospital late on Thursday evening. Between 10 pm and about 12 pm he inspected different wards and sections of the biggest hospital having the tag of provincial Sadar Hospital and ISO 2009 certificate and found that the situation is pathetic and horrifying.

About the inspection SDO Prasad said that it was really a sad experience for him when he found only one doctor present during his visit time in the hospital having capacity of 300 beds. Neither Civil surgeon nor Deputy Superintendent came even after getting the message of his arrival and inspection of the campus.

SDO Prasad first entered into the OPD of Sadar Hospital where patients were waiting for the doctor and doctor was on round duty of the wards. When he inquired about the duty chart of the doctors and staffs, staff present there said that it is not available here, only DS can give you the demanded documents. From here SDO Prasad first sent a message to DC on his Whatsappand then ordered the staffs to inform CS and DS.

From OPD he moved towards male ward and surgical ward where there was no bed sheet on many beds. When he enquired about it, hospital staffs kept mum while patients openly said that despite repeated requests even bed sheet was not given to them. Almost every patient said that they had not yet got any medicine from the hospital. Here he checked the aquaguard which was not functioning.

In female ward the situation was more pathetic. Here patients and their relatives openly said that the doctors and staffs remain in so hurry that they do not wait for normal delivery and prefer surgery. A patient said that doctor has not come to see her even after her operation which was done four days ago.

The most horrifying situation came when SDO Prasad moved towards the pathological lab. Some men were sitting on the Veranda there enjoying wine. When Prasad tried to know their identity they all started making hot exchange with him. In the meantime SDO rang Sadar police station and when police force came they all escaped leaving the bottle and glasses. One was identified as hospital staff while others were outsiders.

I was giving the information of my inspection to Deputy Commissioner Mukesh Kumar regularly on Whatsapp and now I will give a detailed report of my visit to him very soon, said Prasad. Besides absence of doctors and basic facilities, one thing I also noted that the hospital management is not even taking care of cleanliness which is the most important thing for a hospital, he added.
